TPS56837H: What is the main difference between TPS56837H to TPS56837 ? Is there an efficiency difference ?

Hello,

As a part of a power charging board I'm designing now I need to use the TPS56837H for converting 24v to 15v. .

Till now I considered working with TPS56837H since its data-sheet introduce a good efficiency (about 97.7% for 3A output)for the exact voltages I need : Vin:24v/19v , Vout:15v.

However, when I asked to catalogue it I was noticed by our catalogue team that TPS56837 is already existed in our library. I admit I saw their a little bit lower efficiency (97.4%) but for Vout=12v and not 15v.

What I want to ask is what is the main difference between them and if the efficiency supposed to be a part of the difference.

Hi Ohad,

Their Rdson are same. The efficiency should be similar with same bom & switching frequency at same operating points.

The major difference is the supported Vout range of the integrated controller. TPS56837H is the high Vout version.

TPS56837 can only support up to 13V output and can't support 15V output.

If you need 15V Vout, please select TPS56837H.
