TPS65982: Suitable replacement with D-/D+ data multiplexer

Hello,

My client wishes to have a USB Hub for charging (USB PD 3.0) as well as communication to a down stream device via D- and D+ pins. For example a laptop would be plugged in and would be able to charge at 20V 5A but would also be able to communicate to a Hard drive and flash stick that is also plugged in. Only D- D+ , CC1/2 and Power connection is available.

Searching I think I found the needed IC for this project TPS65982 however it seems to be phased out...

My question is: Is there an IC that can replace this with similar functions? Is there perhaps a 2 or 3 IC solution that could implement this?

    Hello again,

    Would it be possible to use Instead of TPS65982, the TPS25750 together with BQ25756E and use a TUSB4020BI HUB first, so that the one output would go to the TPS25750 for BC 1.2 and the other would go to a downstream device?

    Is it possible to just use the TPS25750 together with BQ25756E and directly connect D- and D+ to the TPS25750 as well as another downstream device?

    The TPS25751 has the ability to be paired with the BQ25756. It will automatically control the BQ25756 based on the configuration set in the application customization tool. 

    Also is BC1.2 charging a requirement? If not there is actually no need for a multiplexer as you can connect the two D+ pins together and the two D- pins together from the USB-C port and route it through your system.

    I can't use the TPS25751 as no one has stock and TI limits customers to 50 pieces. There is a lot of stock of the TPS25750 but cant find the TPS25751 anywhere. All good I will use a different IC. The main reason I wanted to use one from Ti was because of the seemlessly easy integration of USB PD and an accompanying Buck Boost. But if there is no stock its pointless...

    Hi Daniel, 

    The TPS25751 just released so stock is being built up as we speak. The 50 unit limit is only temporary to allow customers that have been waiting for this device to place initial orders and not drain inventory on day 1. Since it sounds like this is for a new project, there will be no limit orders by the time you go into production.
