TPS61093: What is the current limit for TPS61093 boost converter IC

Hi,

I have a doubt regarding the boost converter IC TPS61093.

I want to get 12V from 5V input with this IC, the average current requirement would be around 500mA.

I found this IC which seems to have 1.1A output current capacity.

And I used Webench power designer to verify if this IC is the one I am looking for.

However, the IC only shows 100mA capacity in the Webench power designer.

Please help me with this discrepancy between the datasheet and Webench designer tool.

Hi Steven,

1.1A is the typical inductor peak current limit, not the max output current.

You may refer to this APP note for the max Iout calculation.

TLV61048 can support 5V Vin to 12V Vout with 500mA Iout. Will it be OK for your application? Or just let me know the detailed requirements.

I would want some head room for the average current rating, so I am looking for something that have roughly 750mA average current rating IC. Please give me some suggestions.

Hi Steven,

TLV61048 can support 5V Vin to 12V Vout with 750mA Iout.

Could you share what's your application and whether there are other requirements?

Hi Lei,

Thank you for the suggestion.

The application is to power LMG1210 gate drivers with the 12V supply.

I don't have other requirements than having a stable output.
