CSD87381P: Vin min

Part Number: CSD87381P

Hi

We are using CSD87381P along with PMIC TPS6508641 to power Xilinx Zynq ultrascale+  XCZU3CG-L1.

We want to know what is the minimum Vin for the Mosfet to work. Our input voltage range is from 2.5V to 17V. For the PMIC input we are using a buck boost to maintain the minimum Vin of 5.6V.

Also we want to know the power dissipation of the MOSFET at the following currents as per the below image.

  • Hello prema,

Thanks for your interest in TI FETs. The CSD87381P will work over your input voltage range. However, the output voltage for BUCK1 is 5V which is higher than the minimum input voltage. A buck converter can only step down the input voltage. You are pre-regulating the input to the PMIC to 5.6V. If this is the same input for BUCK1, the duty cycle will be >90%. I would recommend checking the PMIC to make sure the controller can operate at high duty cycle. TI has a sync buck FET selection tool at the link below. This allows the user to input their requirements and compare up to 3 TI discrete or power block MOSFET solutions. You can use this tool to estimate the losses for each buck converter using the CSD87381P. Your output currents are very small and I would expect the power loss in the device to be relatively low and well within the capabilities of the package. Please try the tool and let me know if you have any issues.
