LMG1205: Driving EPC2016C at 6.78 MHz

Part Number: LMG1205

Hi,

I want to use the LMG1205 to drive two EPC2016C transistors in a half-bridge configuration at 6.78 MHz, with a duty cycle of 50% and an input voltage of 48V.

From what I've seen, the LMG1205HBEVM evaluation board can drive two EPC2001C transistors at 5 MHz. The EPC2001C has a larger total gate charge (7.5-9 nC) compared to the EPC2016C (3.4-4.5 nC).Additionally, in the application report “Design Considerations for LMG1205 Advanced GaN FET Driver During High-Frequency Operation” the smaller EPC8009 (total gate charge 0.37-0.45 nC) operates up to 10 MHz.

Based on the evaluation boards and application report, I think the LMG1205 should be capable of driving the EPC2016C at 6.78 MHz, but I'm not entirely sure. What do I need to check to be sure if this will work or not, without needing to make a prototype? Alternatively, if anyone has experience with something similar and can confirm or disprove, it would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Lars
