TPS2HB16-Q1: I switch LATCH PIN voltage status, will effect output?

Part Number: TPS2HB16-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi TI

I use TPS2HB16AQPWPRQ1 in my design.

1. I switch LATCH PIN voltage status, will effect output? Please analysis at these condition

a. OUT1 output normal,OUT2 output normal, when switch LATCH PIN,What will happen to the output?

b. OUT1 output shutdown closed,OUT2 output normal, when switch LATCH PIN,What will happen to the output?

2. I use 18 pcs TPS2HB16AQPWPRQ1 and 11 pcs TPS1HB08AQPWPRQ1 in my design, can I connect all ICs LATCH pin on one MCU GPIO?Is there any reference design?

  • Hi Ling,

1a. The output will not change.

1b. If the LATCH pin goes from low to high, TPS2HB16-Q1 will switch from auto-retrying after hitting current limit/thermal shutdown to that channel being disabled upon the next current limit/thermal shutdown until LATCH goes low. If the LATCH pin goes from high to low, OUT1 will be reenabled, provided there has been a delay of tRETRY and the fault condition is cleared.

    2. Yes, please see the below statement from the data sheet. And note that there is a 1MOhm pulldown resistor on each latch pin, so your MCU current will scale respectively (i.e. 29units * 3.3V / 1Meg = ~100uA from GPIO)

    Thanks,

    Patrick
