TPS7A54-Q1: Could we use TPS7A8500ARGRR instead of TPS7A5401QRGRRQ1 without any change schematic/layout?

Part Number: TPS7A54-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A54

Tool/software:

We use TPS7A5401QRGRRQ in our current design.

Could we use TPS7A8500ARGRR instead of TPS7A5401QRGRRQ1 without any change schematic/layout?

Thanks,

Jimmy Huang

  • Hi Jimmy,

These LDO's are nearly interchangeable. The TPS7A54 does not have the ANYOUT feature so you will leave those pins floating on the TPS7A8500A (the pins that should be floating are shown below on the TPS7A54 pinout if you swap out the TPS7A54 and use the TPS7A8500A).

There is an NC pin on the TPS7A54 (shown below) which is the SNS pin and should be tied to OUT with the TPS7A8500A.

The TPS7A5401QRGRRQ1 comes with automotive qualification while the TPS7A8500ARGRR does not.

    Thanks,

    Stephen

  • For SNS of TPS7A8500A, the ANY-OUT feature is not used, leave this pin floating. So we can use TPS7A8500ARGRR instead of TPS7A5401QRGRRQ1, right?

    Thanks,

    Jimmy Huang

  • Hi Jimmy,

You are correct.  Most LDO's use the SNS pin but for this LDO you would not, you would leave them floating since you are not using the ANYOUT pins.  I agree with your assessment.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
