TPS65235EVM-694: Software connection issue and tone shape issues

Part Number: TPS65235EVM-694
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hello. I'm having trouble connecting the TPS65235EVM-694 module to the SLVC651 GUI through either the USB2ANY module and the USB-to-GPIO module.

I followed the instructions on the manual for the EVM kit and it doesn't seem to connect to the board, the registers cannot write or read anything.

I've set up the board, from what I researched, appropriately for software connection but I haven't been able to successfully get a connection.

The other issue I was having too, before I tried to connect to the software for this EVM kit was while setting up the voltage output manually to be 13.4V with a tone imposed on it, I double checked the tone to see if it was an accurate 22kHz tone. With no load the tone resembles a sawtooth wave and does not look correct, only if an external circuit is applied or some kind of load, roughly 200mA, will it actually look correct.

If anyone could offer some advice for these issues I'd greatly appreciate it!

  • Hi Sir,

We are on holiday will reply you next week

    Thanks

  • Hi Sir,

Sorry for responding late due to festival.

The first question i suggest using USB2ANY and make sure it is function normal. Then please follow the instruction in userguide.

The second question it is normal with a sawtooth wave in no load. With some loading added it can be back to normal.

    Hope these can help you.

    Thanks

    Colin

  • Hello Colin,

No worries! Thanks for getting back to me.

So after some investigating we realized that the sawtooth waveform was actually being caused by hooking up a DC load to the output. It wasn't pulling anything during this time but just being attached to the load alone was enough cause the DISEQC board to show a sawtooth. Once it was disconnected it changed to a much cleaner waveform of what we were expecting so I'm not sure what you meant with it being normally a sawtooth wave with no load.

As for the USB2ANY adapter, I followed the guide as far as how to connect and power the adapter to the computer but through the software I was never able to get any connection. The EVM board guide tells me to use SLVC651 as the GUI but the USB2ANY adapter on the TI page suggests SLVC622. I used both of these and still couldn't get anywhere.

    Thanks,

    Mehmet

  • Thanks for your feedback. Colin will get back to you during these days.

  • Hi Sir,

Did you follow the hardware set up before software setting. It should obey the EVM setting according to below:

Please take a check, usually it wouldn't be a problem when using  USB2ANY adapter.

    Thanks

    Colin

  • Hey Colin,

Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation for the past few days.

I did follow this hardware setup for the board but I still wasn't getting any connection on the software from the board to the computer. I tried using this software which recommends the USB-TO-GPIO box and I also tried the USB2ANY software it recommends on the website, still nothing.

    Sincerely,

    Mehmet

  • Hi Mehmet,

Thanks for your feedback. Colin will check and get back to you during these days.

  • Hi Mehmet,

Maybe you can use another computer to try.

    Thanks

  • Hey Colin,

I previously tried using a different computer to see if the issue persisted and it did, I still wasn't able to get a connection to the computer.

I tried on a Windows 10 and Windows 11 computer. What kind of confirmation should I be expecting on the GUI if the box is able to connect to the board/computer?

    Sincerely,

    Mehmet

  • Hi,

This is the hardware requirements for the computer,

BTW, we need keep device is power on when connected to computer.

When it is successful we can see the statues has indicator to show.

    Thanks

    Colin
