UCC21330-Q1: 2EDB8259K replacement

Part Number: UCC21330-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC21330

Tool/software:

Hi, Team,

Do we have replacement recommendation for Infineon 2EDB8259K? This is dual-channel and package is LGA 5x5. Our UCC21330-Q1 is 9.9x6, larger than competitor. V(iso) only need 1~2 kVrms.

  • Hi Keely,

No, we don't have any isolated gate drivers with only a 1mm channel-to-channel creepage/clearance. That is only a 2kV impulse withstand according to IEC60664-1.

We have non-isolated gate drivers that can withstand 600V on the high-side. Is that a possibility?

Otherwise, the next voltage level is an isolated gate driver with a 3kV minimum rating, such as the UCC21330.

    Best regards,

    Sewan

  • Isolations is needed. UCC21330 is best but Infineon device has smaller size than us, with LGA 5x5. Do we have any other solutions to compete with 2EDB8295K?

  • Hi Keely,

No TI does not have an isolated gate driver that small. But you might want to ask them if they are sure they won't benefit from our additional isolation creepage and clearance. It can help with long term PCB reliability due to conductive anode filament formation.

    Best regards,

    Sean
