TPS548A29: Absolute Maximum Ratings, BOOT – SW

Part Number: TPS548A29

Tool/software:

Hello,

The datasheet “6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings” specifies BOOT – PGND = -0.3V to +24V. Is this at only DC or including <20ns transient? If it is the former, how about the BOOT – PGND spec including <20ns transient?

Best regards,

K.Hirano

  • Hi Kazuhiko,
I will take a look at this and get back to you tomorrow.

  • Hi Kazuhiko,
The spec on the datasheet is DC.

  • Hello Kazuhiko,

The the 20ns transient is not included in the spec means that is the max level the device will handle including the 20ns.

For the BOOT to PGND, -300mV is the Min Abs Spec at all time and the 24V is the max abs spec for both DC and 20ns transient.

In your application, you should not to worry about this abs max  as the BOOT is connected to SW (as it is used to power up the driver for the power stage). if the layout is done properly per the datasheet recommendations and SW is meeting the abs max, you should not see this voltage go above 24V. If you have a spike, it should not exceed 24V at all time and even it is small transient.

why do you have a concern about the boot?

    Thanks!

    Tahar
