FLYBUCK-FLYBACK-DESIGN-CALC: Query on power stages design for AUX power

Part Number: FLYBUCK-FLYBACK-DESIGN-CALC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28061

Tool/software:

Hi,

We need to design Audio system with 4 amplifiers each of 150W so total load of 600W.

I need to design FLYBACK converter for stepping down 380Vdc generated from UCC28061 PFC controller into the AUX supplies of 15V (also required for Bias supply of IC), 12V (internal) and 48V (POE)
i prefer to have PSR, CCM/QR conduction with variable frequency switching.

Let me know if there are any better solutions available for the requirements.

Thanks,

Amit

  • Download and use the free tool TI Power Stage Designer to help with topology design and comparisons. Your power requirements and low output voltage seem a bit much for a flyback. If you have a regulated DC input coming from your PFC output, how about an LLC converter which has low noise, low EMI emissions? How about an active clamp forward, which is a fixed frequency ZVS topology? You can also try searching the TI Reference Design Library for similar designs close to your requirements.

  • Hi Steve,

Could you please suggest on the IC part numbers available in the portfolio.

If you have a regulated DC input coming from your PFC output, how about an LLC converter which has low noise, low EMI emissions? How about an active clamp forward, which is a fixed frequency ZVS topology?

can LLC converter be the better choice here for the delivering the power requirement?

    Thanks,

    Amit

  • Study the topology trade offs using the TI Power Stage Designer, search TI.com and the ref designs for help. If LLC seems like a good choice, then ask for help by posting to E2E with a specific controller part number in the title so the right expert can assist.
