TPIC6A596: schematic check

Part Number: TPIC6A596
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC6A598

Tool/software:

Hi

The following is a comparison of the waveform differences between fail IC and good IC

After only replacing the 1st LED IC U11, you can see that the ser_out output of pin15 of the first U11 is different. If you check the setup time and hold time, there is nothing abnormal.

Could you help the check below TPIC6A596 schematic and any need to adjust ,

TPIC6A596DW.pdf

Only change failed IC to U11 the 1st LED chip

CH1: CH1: U11.pin22 SER_IN;   CH2:U11.pin10 SRCK;  CH3: U11.PIN9 RCK ;  CH4: U11.Pin15 SER_OUT

Good IC

CH1: CH1: U11.pin22 SER_IN;   CH2:U11.pin10 SRCK;  CH3: U11.PIN9 RCK ;  CH4: U11.Pin15 SER_OUT

  • Hi Gareth,

Sorry, I can't get your point, what is the failure phenomenon and what is the expected result? please share more details. and please tell me your load condition.

    Thanks!

    Hailee.

  • Hi Hailee

Two different lot codes, one normal and one abnormal We want to confirm if there is a problem with the application first

,the load is 32 LEDs 20~30mA Control another group through Ser_out

Customer found that as long as the reverse IC is added in front of pin9 RCLK, the entire function will be normal. I would like to ask you why it is related to the LD reverse?

Add an inverter for pin9 signal “SERI_LD”

    CH1: U11.pin22 SER_IN;   CH2:U11.pin10 SRCK;  CH3: U11.PIN9 RCK ;  CH4: U11.Pin15 SER_OUT

Good QMAX-3E BP without rework and I type 0xaaaaaaaa

    CH1: CH1: U11.pin22 SER_IN;   CH2:U11.pin10 SRCK;  CH3: U11.PIN9 RCK ;  CH4: U11.Pin15 SER_OUT

The customer wants to see if TLC6A598 can improve the problem first, and found that the following spec is marked, but the TPIC6A596 spec is not marked. Does TPIC6A596 actually have this timing spec? Thank you
  • Hi Gareth,

I think it's supposed to be the same issue as the below one. Regarding your question, you can refer to this time - just ensure before the RCK rise, the 8th SRCK clock (last SRCK clock) rise has been completed.

    (6) TPIC6A596: TPIC6A596 is malfunction with the new FAB site DMOS6 - Power management forum - Power management - TI E2E support forums

    Thanks!
