BQ25756: Jeita compliance of BQ25756 but with smart battery

Dear Team

I had selected BQ25756 charger with my smart battery which talks over SMBUS ,

Now issue is charger is using thermistor for all calculation related to Jeita but those smart batteries have temperature sensor but inside battery, i can fetch temperature values from smbus then can send data to charger over I2C .

Can you please see if this thing can work out

i had done all other things and 6 charger will be used in system and production will be in big numbers ,please suggest some solution

Hello Karan,

You'll need to use an MCU for the smart battery to communicate with the charger. The MCU will translate SMBus to I2C for the charger.

We are writing an application note for converting SMBus to I2C with an MCU. This application note should be out by the end of this month.

yes i am using MCU which communicate with charger and also with battery ,that application will be very helpfull ,

but still i have one query that Jeita compliance is done by physical Thermistor connected to TS pin of charger as of what i understand ,

can you tell me Register of charger where i can send values of temperature which i will getting from smart battery .

Hello Karan,

Does the smart battery have it's own connection for a thermistor that can be plugged into the BQ25750 converter?

You can also use the MCU to reduce the charge current and charge voltage across the different temperature regions. The BQ25756 does not have a register to send temperature values too.
