BQ27441-G1: What is the need for the 10K pulldown resiston on BIN pin when battery removal detection isn't needed

Tool/software:

We have a very tight layout and are trying to determine whether the lack of a 10K pulldown on the BIN pin will have any adverse affects on the chip.

We don't need battery removal detection as it is a sealed product with battery solder to pcb.

Hi,

It is recommended to use a 10k pull down even if the pin is not being used.

How will you get your thermistor input?

Ah, so you are saying it uses the temperature derived from thermistor for is calculation of the SOC. It only mentions it as a mean to detect battery is connected or not. Which in our case is irrelevant as battery is not removable.

We do not need a thermistor pin on our batteries as the battery is directly on pcb, where we already have our own temp sensor - so can restrict charging when necessary.

Again why is it required - I see no reason

Hi,

The Thermistor is needed as a temperature input for the IT algorithm.

Ah now I understand - thanks for your reply. I did wonder if the temp was used in the IT algorithm - just it didn't mention it anywahere and only reffered to detecting battery removal.
