LMR51610: pspice simulation startup & steady state behaviour

Part Number: LMR51610

Tool/software:

I tried simulating LMR51610 in steady state & Start Up state. I see difference in behavior as shown in below graph.

1)In steady state case i see a dip in voltage(as marked with cursor) up to 26.6V.

where in Start Up case i could find any such dip in voltage up to 26.6V, what could be the reason for it. Is there any difference in simulation model for both? since i use same values of R, L, C for both designs.

Circuit :

Thanks

  • Hi Dharma,

Thank you for posting.  We will send this to the expert to investigate, and get back to you later.

  • Hi Dharma,

Sorry that our expert is not yet available.  I downloaded the model and ran the simulation as was, and I found the "steady state model" bypass internal soft start  to speed up the simulation into steady state, but the model still takes time to establish the correct bias points before it runs  in steady state.  This may take a few hundreds of micro second, but it is faster than the ~3ms regular start up process.

Therefore, if you just want to watch steady state, set MODE=1 and just ignore the duration for the circuit running into steady state.  If you want to simulate a more realistic performance, set MODE=0, and this will run through the soft start.

    Hope this clarifies.
