BQ34Z100-G1: ADDRESS OF IC CHANGED AND NOT WORKING

Hi All,

Iam trying to communicate BQ34Z100 with BQSTUDIO software. but during initial powerup the IC communicated properly with EV2400. sometime later, the Address, which was initial shown as AA, now changed to 10. I restart many times, reprogrammed, (Sending Screenshots), but the IC is not communicating, and it is not autodetecting either. can you help me to get back the IC into normal Operation.

Can you check if your device is in ROM mode?

Hio Mr Diego,

BQ34Z100 is not supporting SMBUS in BQstudio, it is showing I2C or HDQ . I assume the link doesn't work in BQ34Z100 IC. can youn suggest some more methods if the device entered in ROM mode.

Hi,

You are correct you will connect to i2c lines on the BQ34z100 and the SMBus lines on the EV2400.

Then force open a device on BQstudio that supports SMBus (I typically use 40z50) and send the cmds described in the forum post linked.

Hi Mr Diego,

I followed your instructions and after that also IC still showing the address 0X10. Please clarify is 0x10 is ROM version of address or what does it indicate? Usually iC should show the address 0XAA.

Could you Please suggest some different methods as The link is not working for this...

1. When i entered 10 as target address, the operation was executed, but after reconfiguring back to I2C, it is still showing 10 as address

2. When i entered 17 as target address, there was no acknowledgment although, device address was shown 17 in the left side bar...

Hi,

Is there a TI monitor on your i2c line?

Typically, 0x10 is the i2c address for the monitor and the BQ34z100 needs to be paired with a monitor for cell balancing purposes.

Hi,

No, there is no TI Monitor in the i2c line. I fabricated three Boards of same design and found that Two are working fine with Correct address and this Board is showing Address 0X10.

Are you able to communicate on the 0x10 address.

Can you share the .srec file with me?

It is possible your .srec has been corrupted.
