Tool/software:
dears,
could TPS2811 limit the output current after start-up?
i could not understand the note in the datasheet "The current limit circuit employs a foldback mechanism. The current limit threshold in the foldback region (0 V < VOUT < VFB) is lower than the target current limit threshold (ILIM)", would you please help to share more details how the foldback mechanism of the current limit works?
when the resistor coupled to IMON pin is decided, what is the max value of the current limit? What is the max voltage permitted to the Imon pin to set the current limit?
thanks!
Hey Andrew,
Than you for reaching out with your questions.
The TPS2811 does not have a foldback mechanism or an IMON pin. Could you have possibly linked the wrong part number?
In reference to the TPS2811, we have newer dual channel gate drivers like the UCC27523 that have the same pinout as the TPS2811. They do not have a current limit circuit, but it outputs peak currents each cycle for the gate drive of the MOSFET.
Let me know if there are further questions.
Thank you,
William Moore
dear William,
sorry for my typo.
the device should be TPS22811, not TPS2811.
i have submitted another question with the correct part number.
thank you!
Hey Andrew,
It is okay, I will close this thread now.
Thank you,
