Tool/software:
I am designing a product with wireless charging, and I was going to use a module designed specifically for wireless charging, but the price was too high for my product design. I planned on using the BQ21040 module with a Wurth Electronics Rx coil (760308101216) for the receiver side and an IC OSC timer 100kHz (SA55P) in combination with a Wurth Electronics Tx coil (760308101104) for my application on the transmit side. I am specially using the BQ21040 for it's cheap price point. I feel like the design will work, but I am worried about the airgap that will be required. Please provide any feedback regarding the use of this module for wireless charging.
Hello
The BQ21040 has an OVP trip point of 6.6V, would work for a well-regulated power input. But your Wireless power Design may have more variation. A better device to consider is the BQ25176M, the OVP in 18V and unit has input DPM which would help.
What is your battery size and charge current?
