BQ25170: Enable/Disable via PIN

Part Number: BQ25170

Tool/software:

Hi team,

In related thread, below are described.

  • The charge disable function of the TS pin provides a means to turn off automatic recharge, which is part of the charging profile by default.
  • System will need to have a method to reenable charging when desired as device does not monitor battery voltage when disabled via the TS pin.

Does this mean that once the IC has been disabled via the TS pin, charging will not start simply by plugging the input source?

Plugging the input source will restart charge IF TS pin is not pulled low and battery voltage is below recharge.

  • Hi Bill,

    Thank you.

If I use the TS pin as Charge Enable/Disable, I need a other circuit to set V_TS>V_(TS_ENZ), right?

For normal operation connecting a 10k Resistor between TS and Ground will work if a 10k NTC is not used.

Then Charge Enable/Disable only needs to pull the TS pin low.

This could be done with a mosfet or open drain GPIO signal.
