LM5145: The LM5145 material temperature rises too high

Part Number: LM5145

Tool/software:

Hi,

When the customer used this material on the equipment, it was found that the temperature rise was relatively large (the specific circuit diagram is as follows).

I would like to ask you, as a controller, most of the consumption is on the MOS and inductance, why the temperature of the controller chip is so high, and what is the specific internal consumption? The customer also tried VCC external connection, but there was no improvement, please help to see what is the reason?

Two other chips are also selected for comparison, and the test process and data are as follows:

As the Demo board of TI material LM5145 is tested, the circuit above is most consistent with LM5145. Due to the selection of inductance on the circuit, the maximum load is 5A, so the Demo board test of the other two chips is also 5A test.

The DC power supply is 36V, the electronic load is used to pull 5A analog load at both ends of the output, and the temperature data is read by the point temperature measuring instrument of thermal design.

The board is tested at room temperature (about 20 ° C), and each data is read for about 15 minutes.

Thanks!

  • Hello,

Please send a completed quickstart calculator for your design, so we can examine component power losses. the link is in the LM5145 product folder.
