For TPS2111A, if  D1 is not driven by a logic gate and is pulled down and connected to a power supply, would that cause a problem? The datasheet doesn’t specify whether they’re Schmitt trigger inputs.

    The D lines may be connected to GND or IN1 either directly or through a resistor.

    I don't think they are schmitt trigger input although they have a hysteresis between off and on thresholds.

    They are still cmos and ttl compatible.
