Tool/software:
Hello everyone,
I’m trying to simulate the LM5149 in PSpice for TI 2024. I’ve downloaded the LM5149-Q1 PSPICE Transient Model from the TI website and followed the provided steps.
After loading the file, I opened the schematic and ran the simulation without making any changes. The simulation completes, but the output voltage is consistently 6V, even though the circuit is designed for a 5V output with a 12V input.
Interestingly, tweaking the feedback resistor values doesn’t seem to affect the output voltage—it remains at 6V. Furthermore, if I increase the input voltage (VIN), the output voltage (VOUT) always appears to be half of VIN.
As someone relatively new to PSpice and electrical simulation, I’m unsure if I’m missing something critical. Has anyone else encountered this issue or can suggest what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help!
The original download can be found here: snvmcb8.zip

Hello Micahel,
I downloaded the PSPICE model and ran it and it works on my end. Did you create a folder and unzip the file in that folder, and run the OPJ file?
Thats all I did and works fine, see below.
Hope this helps,
David.
That is indeed what I did. I just tried again and got the same result (not working correctly).
When you say unzip the file in that folder you mean "Extract All" to that folder, right?
Is this perhaps a PSPICE version issue? I am running version "23.1-2024 5001 Windows SPB 64-bit Edition"
Hello Michael,
I am running PSPICE for TI, Version 17.4 64-bit version.
Correct, extract all into the same made folder you pasted into, do not run it from the download folder it's went to, when you first download it.
Hope this helps
David.
So it may be a version issue? I'm not sure if I can download an older version to test. If you run on a newer version does it still work correctly?
I believe the file is encrypted so not possible to run on TINA TI for comparison.
Hello Michael,
I am not sure if it's a version issue. I don't think you can download the older version. I am making some inquiries to folks with the newer version to rule this out as a possibility.
Thanks.
David.
Hey David, any updates on this? Have you been able to test this against the latest version of PSpice for TI?
Hello Michael,
Yes, it looks like the issue is on our end, we are still trying to gind out root cause.
Thanks for your patience.
David.
Hello Micahel,
I had someone else test itwith the latest version and it works...
Please can you turn on the option to list model file see below.
This will show you where each model comes from in the .out file:
please share what you see.
Thanks.
Hello Michael,
I have easier path to resolve this issue, please can you reinstall library and download a fresh model file from the product folder and retry.
please refer to attachment.
Thanks.
David.
