UCC256403: Questions Regarding LLC Design for Battery Charger (Based on PMP40766)

Part Number: UCC256403
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP40766, , TINA-TI

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team,

I am developing an LLC DC/DC converter for a battery charger, referring to the PMP40766 reference design. Since this is my first LLC design, I am learning step by step with your guidance and support. Based on your previous advice, I calculated Lr and Lm parameters at minimum, maximum, and nominal voltages, and selected the values accordingly.

Below are my design specifications. Could you please review them and let me know if they are appropriate? I plan to design the CC/CV control loop afterwards.

I also have a few detailed questions:

1. When selecting the VCR capacitor, the calculated value changes depending on the output voltage. I believe it is correct to use the value calculated at the maximum output voltage (58.1 V), but I am not sure. Could you confirm if this is the right approach?

2. I could not find detailed information on the purpose of the “Compensation and Transient” sheet in the calculator tool. Could you provide an explanation or any references about its function?

3. According to the datasheet, pulling the BLK pin low will stop charging. If I pull the BLK pin high again, will the charger resume normal operation automatically?

4. In the calculator tool, the BW pin voltage is derived from the bias turns, but in the PMP40766 schematic it is implemented using only resistors and capacitors. What is the difference between these two approaches?

5. How can I test the UCC25640x Simplis model? I mainly use TINA-TI and PSpice for simulation.

Thank you very much for your kind support.

Best regards,
