TLC5941 VLED

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC5941

I would like to use TLC5941 to drive 6 LEDs in series on each channels, Vf is around 3.3 ~ 3.8V at If = 20mA with 22~24V LED supply.

I found that on first page of datasheet metion the LED Power Supply "Vled" is up to 17V, but on Page3 of datasheet the Recommended Operating Conditions table, "Vo" Voltage Applied To Output listout max is 17V. Some confuse here! I means "Vled" is different from "Vo" because series of LED have voltage drop then apply voltage to "Vo"

I would like to confirm is it safe to use TLC5941 by apply Vled in max 24V without adopt additional MOSFET on each channel (SLVA280).

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello Ping,

Please check if the voltage on the different OUT pins is lower than 17V, even when the LEDs are off. As long as this voltage is below 17V in every case, you are save with the VLED you apply.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
