Switching frequency limits

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC3524

With the UC3524, the manual states that the minimum switching frequency should not be less than 120Hz, based on practical values for Ct and Rt. Can you elaborate on the limitations and what the impact would be if this is run at 60Hz? My end customer would like to understand the potential risks of running the device with a switching frequency of 60Hz.

  • Hi Prodigy,
Configured switching frequency lower than the claimed minimum frequency may cause different issues on different parts. The possible issue I know includes widely changed switching frequency and dead-time across temperature and parts, poor noise immunity of internal CLK, false PWM timing. So it is not recommend to make this configuration.
