Problem with powerful Schottky diodes in module UCC25600EVM-644

We bought a evaluation module UCC25600EVM-644. We use it to power amplifier based on TAS5630BPHD. We noticed a problem with Schottky diodes D7 and D8. They began to burn for no apparent reason at load of 30-50%. Later they were replaced with MBR40250TG but the problem remained. Would you please suggest ideas to solve the problem?

  • This design is rated for a continuous power of 250W and I have not seen an issue with this occurring at this power level.  The power ratings above 250W are supposed to be time limited amount of time and if this time is exceeded the unit might become damaged.  I also think you might need a fan for power levels above 250W.

    Regards,

  • We use the power supply within the parameters set for it, while it cools along with the amplifier module by a fan. However, diodes D7 and D8 burn regardless of the temperature of their radiator. In most cases their radiator is cold when they burn. For thermal connection between D7, D8 and heatsink we use DOW CORNING 340 heat sink compound and silicon substrates.

  • What power level are you running at and for how long?

Also how are you loading this unit?

    Regaurds,
