UC3879 external clock sync

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UC3879

Hello,

I want to sync UC3879 with an external clock pulse. In the application note( U-154) i saw that, the ic locks with the fastest clock pulse. I also saw that, to provide an external clock-pulse, i need to invert the pulse signal which will feed to a p-mos which will chop a 5V rail to create the pulse. Now my questions are:

1) Is that 5V has to be the reference 5V of the IC?

2) If the answer to the above question is NO, then can i use logic gates' (7486) output directly for clock syncing?

3) Does the external clock frequency  affects the max duty cycle?

Thanks in advance
