What is the difference between the TPS2561 AND TPS2561A?

Also, I want to make a USB charger port for the new 12W USB (5V at 2.4A) charge capable devices.  Which IC would you recommend that I use: the TPS2561 or the TPS2561A?

Compared with TPS2561, the only difference is TPS2561A can guarantee 2.1A to 2.5A including external +/-1% resistor, now for 2.4A charging, the new current limit range request is 2.5A to 2.9A, TPS2561 and TPS2561A can’t meet the spec based on the calculation equal on page 12.

But TPS25200 can meet the spec based on the calculation result as 10.2.1.2.4 description.

Now, for your customer, wether request must meet 2.5A to 2.9A including external resistor or not?

1.  On page 14 of the TPS2561 and TPS2561A datasheets, it is stated that if, for example, I use a 1% 20Kohm current-limit setting resistor, the current limit will be 2560mA to 3035mA.  Won't this work for my application which needs 2.4A charge current (per the new 12W USB charging requirement)?  This should guarantee 2.4A charging over the entire operating temp. range, right?

2.  Also, if it is true that the the current limit using a 1% 20Kohm resistor will ensure 2.4A charging, AND if the current limit equations are the same for both the TPS2561 and the TPS2561A, then what exactly is the difference between using the TPS2561 and the TPS2561A, with a 1% 20Kohm current limit setting resistor?

1. Based on the calculation equal, use a +、-1% 20kohm current limti setting resistor, we can get the 2560mA to 3035mA current limit. Also for 2.4A charging, ignore the 2.5A to 2.9A and assume the up-stream power and provide exceed 3035mA, it is ok.

2. Becassue somee customer request us gurantee 2.1A to 2.5A including external +/1% resistor in production, so we re-do the characterization for 24.3k and 47.5k resistor and put the parameters on the datasheet, and you can find the infromation on page 3.

I understand.  So why is it that the current limit on page 3 for both the 24.3K and 47.5K resistors are both the same (2.1A to 2.5A)?  Shouldn't each resistor value provide a different over-current threshold?
