bq24260 / Use with 1uH inductor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24260

Hi All,

I know that the recommended minimum inductor for bq24260 is 1.5uH but our customer hope to use it with 1uH to reduce footprint size. They understand and can accept higher inductor ripple current when smaller inductor is used. Can you accept 1uH for following requirement?

Vin = 5V

Vbat = 3.0V to 4.2V

Ichg = 2A

OTG is not used

Best Regards,

Sonoki / Japan Disty

  • Given the limited Vin and Vbat range, I do not expect any issues.  But, unfortunately, we cannot warranty operation outside of the datasheet limits for the inductor because we did not test operation outside of this limits.  I suggest your customer perform testing over temperature with the 1uH inductor, including load transient response, with their minimum capacitance on SYS.
