LM25011A Output Ripple Control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25011

Hello,

I want to know the function difference between LM25011 and LM25011A.

Q1.Does LM25011A have an ERM(emulated ripple mode) control circuit built-in?

Q2.Should I use the LM25011 if there is no need high switching frequencies?

It is possible to reduce the total number of parts.

Best regards,
Seishin

  • Hello Seishin,

There is no functional difference between the LM25011 and the LM25011A. The only parametric difference between the two parts is that LM25011A has a shorter minimum off-time than the LM25011, which allows for higher frequency operation at low input voltages. You can use LM25011 or LM25011A alternatively if high frequency and low Vin operation are not your constraints.

LM25011/A both use the sense resistor, Rs between Cs and CSG pin for ripple generation needed for COT operation. However, sometimes especially at lower Vin operation, external ripple injection circuit may be required as the sense resistor ripple may not be enough. It is difficult to guarantee the sense resistor ripple injection circuitry over the entire VIN range and load current especially at high frequency. Hence the caveat.
