LM5104 in 100% duty cycle? Other recommendations?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5104

Dear experts,

Our assigned account is thinking of using our LM5104 device in a GaN PA Drain Switching application. The switching voltage is not a constant one but can vary between 20V to 32V. In the application, there can also be conditions to work with 250ns low pulsewidths as well as 100% duty cycle (CW) operation conditions. However, this device does not support 100% duty cycle operations like some other similar devices. So they are asking what we can suggest to work this part with 20-32V voltages and at 100% duty cycles? What would be the easiest way and with minimal PCB area?

Thanks,

Murat Ilhan.

  • Hello Murat,

Can you tell me what you mean by switching voltage? Is this the DC input voltage? You describe the application as a GaN PA Drain Switching. This is unclear to me. Do you mean a switching power supply for a PA (power amplifier)?  Like an envelope tracking dc-dc? What are the conditions that create a 250 ns pulse-width requirement?

Can you provide a basic block diagram or non-proprietary circuit similar to your application?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

  • Hi Chuck,

Ok, I will get the information and return back to you.

    Thanks,

    Murat.
