LM3406 operation of start-up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3406

Hi,

I would like to confirm the operation of start-up for LM3406.

"Start Up using OFF Terminal" waveform is mentioned in the "LM3406 EVM Use's Guide".

The IF is constant after start-up.

Why is the current constant?

Can this constant time be changed?

Thanks and Regards,

Kuramochi

  • According to the IC designer that startup waveform is accurate and expected. When you first turn the device on it has a startup mode that introduces an offset in the error amplifier and that is what is dictating the current level. Then it will switch out (which is where you see the dip) and the error amplifier works normally. So there isn't any way to get rid of it. But you could use an output shunt FET at startup and disable it after the current is in regulation.
