bq2050hsn is 'HDQ'or'DQ'

Hi,

We are using bq2050h in our application, recently we bought some bq2050h but they did not work properly.On checking we found that some of the IC's are 'DQ' version while some are 'HDQ' version .

But both have same code printed on them that is "bq2050hsn-09A40K8D336" .

Can someone give some clarification about this problem?

    That marking should be for the bq2050H device. How do you know that that the devices are the "DQ" version? The only difference between the two should be are the HDQ communication rate and a few more command and status registers on the HDQ device.

    When I tried to communicate with these chips they did not respond so just out of curiosity I tested them with DQ communication rate and found that the chips responded to the commands. When I checked 3F register I did not get FF so I concluded that they should be DQ version chips.Apart from communication rate the EDV1 & EDVF setting levels are also different in DQ version chip.

    I checked both bq2050 & bq2050h datasheet and found that only communication rate and EDV settings are different apart from that all other things are same.So we don't mind using these chips,but we want to confirm from your side that these are the only changes in these two versions and they can be used without any problem.

    Also one other thing we would like to know from you is how come some chips are DQ version and some HDQ version?
    It would be great if you could do some investigation of this issue since this could be a big problem during production.

    Please give some feedback on what we should do . Our production cycle is getting affected by this problem . Please reply fast.

    If you think that they devices are not marked properly, then you should return them to your supplier for replacement. A DQ  device will not meet HDQ specifications.
