TLC5923/TLC5940 good for driving laser diodes?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC5940, TLC5923

Hi,

I am looking for a laser diode driver that is capable of driving at least 8 laser didoes (LDs) simultaneously. My LDs have the following driving specifications:

Current requirement: 10-60mA or higher
Voltage requirement: 2-5V
Driving capabilities: pulses of msec duration, sine waves with 5-50Hz
Are TLC5923/TLC5940 chips good enough for the driver I need without causing any potential damage to the diodes?
My diodes are currently assembled in common ground (sink) configuration, should that be of any concern?
Thanks,
Komal
