LP8557 support PWM and CABC ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8557

Hi,

If use LP8557, how to connect the CABC trace from panel ?

If use LP8557I, how to connect the CABC trace from panel ?

Thanks

  • Hi,

LP8557 is not meant to be used for I2C I/F, and output brightness just follow input brightness by PWM input. In order to support CABC with LP8557, just connect PWM input signal to LP8557. This PWM input from control system should have CABC adjusted brightness + user brightness level + brightness slope controlled PWM(if needed because slope control is disabled by default)

LP8557I will be a better device for CABC. System can use 2 inputs at a time. PWM input for CABC and I2C brightness input for user brightness. Brightness slope function works for I2C(addr 0x10[1:0] = 11) and user can set the slope option(addr 0x15) as needed. PWM input brightness is not affected by slope setting, so brightness info by PWM input can be applied instantly for CABC speed. PWM input should have CABC applied brightness info.
