LM4120 part name

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4128, LM4132

I'm looking for the part name of LM4120IM-2.5/NOPB.

This part is not on the datasheet or web. I only see M5-xx as SOT-23 package.

Would you tell me what is this part name ?  Also please tell me current status ?

We had a purchasing history before, but I could not get any informatin.

so If TI has any informaiotion on the database, it's very helpful

  • Hi Muta,
    Can you help me understand your question a little better? The part name is LM4120. This part is active and available for purchase. It is available in standard and high grade. The high grade can be identified with an "A" in the orderable name.

    You can see the orderable options at the bottom of the datasheet or here: www.ti.com/.../samplebuy

    In the part you listed, the breakdown is as follows
    LM4120IM-2.5/NOPB

    LM4120 = part name
    I = Industrial temp range (-40C to 85C)
    M5 = package, in this case SOT-23 (5pin), the only package available for this part, in a 1000 unit tape/reel.
    -2.5 = voltage option (2.5V output)
    /NOPB = lead-free

    M5X (instead of M5) would be an orderable for a 3000 unit reel, as opposed to a 1000 unit tape/reel.

    If you are trying to find out what the part actually is, you can see the part's product page at LM4120, which includes links to the datasheet, description, samples/purchasing, and recommended companion parts.

    We have released a two similar parts, the LM4128 and LM4132, which offer pin for pin compatibility over an extended temperature range (-40C to 125C).  If that interests you I could help you identify the best option for your application.

    Let me know if that helps or if you still have questions.

  • Hi, Chris,

    Thank you for your reply.

    As you said, I asked you the part name, LM4120.

    I found the part name, LM4120IM-2.5/NOPB in our system.(It's very old purchasing history in Yr2009...) but could not found same part name on TI web.

    LM4120 only has SOT23 package(M5) in current status. Did you have any other package option before ?

    In National semicondictor's package codes, "M" is mentioned as Molded Small Outline Package (SO, SOT).

    I woud like to know if our system registration is wrong or package option is in EOL.

    Your help woud be highly appreciated.

    Regards,

  • Hi Muta,

    The oldest datasheet I can access (which is the last datasheet that was branded National Semiconductor) shows only one package option, with order information for the 2.5V option you have listed as "LM4120IM5-2.5".  The M is indeed for SO, SOT packages, but the SOT-23 package is marked by M3, M5, M6, depending on how many pins the part has (3,5,6).  In this case the LM4120 is offered in SOT23-5 which is a 5 pin package, and therefore is marked and ordered with LM4120IM5-XX where XX is the voltage option.

    The document here:  describes the package marking notation used by National Semiconductor.  See page 6 for the package type information.

  • Hi Chris,
    Thanks for your confirmation. I understood LM4120 had SOT package only.
