BQ24095: BQ24095 - Battery Charging

Part Number: BQ24095

Hello Team,

We are working on one project and we are selected BQ24095 battery charger, for our application.

We have listed below query

1. What is the behavior of BQ24095 charger, if user insert "dead battery" for charging?

2. What is the LED indication on "PG & CHG" pin?

3. If user Plug in more than 1-Amp power supply for charging, than what happen?

Thank & Regards,

Mitul Tank

  • Hi Mitul,

If the battery is "dead" the charger will pre-charge the battery with h 10% of the fast charge current setting. If the battery has a protection circuit  that  has been tripped, there will be a short-circuit current that will trickle charge to wake up the protection FETs.

You can refer to the pin functions section and 9.3.8 of the datsheet. The LED indication functions are discussed there.

If you use a power supply that is capable of delivering more than 1 Amp, the charger will still draw only the needed current to support the system load and battery charging function. The input current will still be limited by the device input current limit.

  • Hi David W,

Thank you very much for your reply, we will work on it.

    Thanks & Regards,
