BQ25703A: bq25703A / Current Limit Setup after CHRG_OK goes HIGH

Part Number: BQ25703A

Hi,

Now I'm evaluating bq25703A EVM and then find the different behavior compared with description in datasheet. the section 8.3.2.2 describe that the input current limit set to default after CHRG_OK goes HIGH, but it looks like it may be set to default after CHRG_OK goes "LOW", not HIGH. Please see attached waveform and give your opinion.

[Test condition]

  • Use 2S battery
  • Load is 1.0A constant current
  • Charge current setting is 0mA

  • Understand it. It seems IC can keep the Iin_lim when write it at battery only mode. Today, I don't have bandwidth to check it. I will verify it later.
  • Hi Wang,

Thank you for your support. This behavior have not been issue at my customer at this point so it's not urgent so far. Please let me know when you'll find any update.

  • Verified it on my bench. That is same as your test result. IC can keep the Iin_lim when Iin_lim is set at battery only mode. Or, we can say, When CHRG_OK goes low, the charger sets default input current limit in REG0x0F/0E() to 3.3A.
  • Hi Wang,

Thank you for your support. Do you think the description in datasheet should be corrected? It's not critical for me so far but please consider it if you need.

  • The new datasheet will correct it. It will be released couple weeks later with new efficiency data.
