LM53602-Q1: How to Verify Loop Margin

Hello,

I understand LM53602-Q1's loop compensation is internally optimized, but how can I verify its loop margin (Bode plot or phase margin, etc.) in my design? Is there any tools available in TI? It seems any external components cannot be selected in WEBENCH. If it's correct, can a PSpice model be used for the purpose?

Shinichi-san,

You can modify the components in the WEBENCH schematic (while looking at schematic, select a component, click "Select Alternate Component") and get a new plot under Charts. WEBENCH is your best bet for these calculations, other than testing the part in the lab.

I'll ask some folks here if we have specialized tools for this part and I'll get back to you.

Shinichi-san,

I spoke with a guru and he said the PSpice model is good for these kinds of calculations. Any inaccuracies in the model are small compared to other variances in the system.

Sam-san,

I looked at the product folder but all the models there were only PSpice Transient Model. I guess it doesn't work to verify the loop margin. Is any PSpice AC model of this device available for this purpose?

For now the best option is to use WEBENCH. I am trying to get a simplis model to email to you but this week is tough with the holiday. I'll keep you posted.
