LM2660: About LM2660 inrush current question?

Part Number: LM2660

Dear support member,

My customer used LM2660.

At the rise up of output voltage, the current (225 mA) greatly exceeding the rated output of 120 mAMAX flows during the rush, but is there a problem?

Also, when the power supply is started, the output voltage of the LM2660 looks like a step waveform in the timing of the rush current, but is there a problem?

Best regard.
Bob Lee.

  • Answer to your 2nd question first: having not seen your waveform but I think you meant the rising of Vout is stepping cycle by cycle. It is understandable because the charge pump is dumping the charge to the output capacitor in each cycle which results in stepping voltage.

225mA is at the input or the output? Anyway, the 120mA is the continuous operating current. Transient current in short duration should not be a concern.
  • Dear Youhao Xi,

Thank you very much for reply.

I reply my customer and I feedback it.

If there is some question from my customer,
    Also, I will question.
