+5V in, multi-output regulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP8758-E0, TPS65708, TPS650250

I currently have the following basic design requirements:

input: +5V

outputs:

+3.3V @ 100 mA
+2.8V @ 100 mA
+1.8V @ 300 mA
+1.2V @ 200 mA

Right now I have a discrete solutions (four regulators: two LDO for +3.3V, +2.8V and two switchers for +1.8V, +1.2V).

Can anyone recommend a single solution which still has high efficiency for the lower Voltages?

  • Hi Tom,

I'd like to know some more details about your design. Are LDO voltage rails mandatory to be LDO powered? Is there some ripple specification for those voltage levels? Is this personal electronics ,industrial or automotive applications/system?

One recommendation is LP8758-E0 device. It is switcher which can support 4 different rail from one device. Please check if this device could fulfill your requirements.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Tom,

If you want small package size, the TPS65708 might work, the voltages it outputs match those you provided though it has an LDO and SMPS switched by comparison.

Alternatively, the TPS650250 might be a good fit if DSBGA package is not appealing. It has an extra SMPS but it doesn't have to be used as the device is entirely configurable through resistors rather than factory programmed.
