UCC28061-Q1: PWMCNTL pin

Part Number: UCC28061-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28061

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask UCC28061-Q1?

<Question1>
In case of one sided-operation(ubnormal phase shift condition), will this pin be high-impedance?

<Question2>
If Phase Fail Detector on the datasheet P9 operates, GDA and GDB keeps operating? or not?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,
    (1) For single phase operation phase failure is not monitored so PWMCNTL remains low impedance.
    (2) If phase fail is detected GDA,GDB continue to operate.
    Phase fail is defined as one ZCD signal remaining idle for longer than 14mS while other ZCD operating normally.

    Regards
    John
  • Hi, Hirotaka

    The UCC28061 detects failure of one phase by monitoring the sequence of ZCD pulses. During normal two-phase operation, if one ZCD input remains idle for longer than approximately 14 ms while the other ZCD input switches normally, PWMCNTL goes high, indicating that the power stage is not operating correctly. During normal single-phase operation, phase failure is not monitored.

    based on above comment:
    <Question1>
    A: No
    <Question2>
    B:Yes

    Thank you so much for your reply!

    Our customer would like to detects failure of one phase during normal two-phase operation.
    (Usually, normal operation is two-phase, however according to some failure, it will be single pahse operation. Our customer would like to detect it as failure usign PWMCNTL pin).
    As the conclusion, it can't detect.
    Is our recognition correct?

    Kind regards,

    We are so sorry to rush you, however could you give us the reply of our last post just in case?

    Kind regards,
