BQ20Z65-R1: Turning off PEC without access to data flash

Part Number: BQ20Z65-R1

Simple question - Is it possible to disable the PEC byte sent in the broadcasts from this chip WITHOUT having access to the data flash (i.e. when the chip is in "sealed mode")?

I know the broadcasts can be turned off entirely (set bit 14 [ChgM] to “1” in register 0x03), but I would like to disable just the PEC because, shockingly, none of TI's charge controllers support it.

Thanks
