Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A85EVM-754

Hi

I purchased this eval board TPS7A85EVM-754 , power up 5VDC

the board shows a short to power. Any advice?

Thanks,

Dorel

  • Hi Dorel,

In order to help debug could you clarify how you are using the EVM? Did you make any modifications to the EVM? Are you using the ANYOUT pins? If so what is the settings of U6? Any scopeshots or pictures of your setup would also help us assist in debugging.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan,

no modifications. I bought 2 different evaluation modules because I have a project where I need a power supply with very low voltage ripple.

I used both, as is , applied the power supply and looked for the voltage output. On this particular one, I  use it  just out of the box, applied 5V and I was  looking for voltage output on the scope

My desk power supply goes in current limitation (0.6A) and voltage drops to 1V, no modifications, or dip switches changes ; I didn't increase the current limitation.

The other type worked great, I could evaluate the chip. Any other suggestions please?

    Thanks,

    Dorel

  • Hi Dorel,

When you say you had 2 different evaluation modules, do you mean two TPS7A85EVM-754 or one TPS7A85EVM-754 and a different device's EVM?

Could you provide photo's of your setup and any scope shots for us to help debug?

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
  • My setup was pretty basics, input voltage and output to the scope.
I said I bought 2 different modules, I mean different PN, different IC; The other one worked out of the box.
I have issue just with this one
  • Hi Dorel,

Thank you for the photo. I do not see anything in your setup that would explain a short from Vin to Vout. Could you confirm that R2 is populated?

I will be sending you a private message to discuss getting you a replacement board.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
