BQ24130: The LED is not turn off when the charge is complete

My customer has a little problem with the charger:
The LED1 is not turn off when the charge is complete.

Assembling of Liion batteries: 12.6В.
At he end of the charging: Vin= 15.3 V
Icharge = 2.18mA
Vbut = 12.592V.

Could You suggest the way to resolve this issue.

Hi Peter,
The bq24130 is a host controlled charger. The open-drain transistor between the STAT pin and GND is OFF in either sleep mode or charge disabled as described by Charge Status Outputs on page 18 and the Table. The charging can be disabled by pulling ISET1 to low. The case you described is still in charging so the LED is ON.

Hi, there! I have a problem with this charger. Accu has a final voltage equal 12.592V and the charging current remain flowing 4mA and not stopped. The LED indication is ON. Why does the cip not to turn off the charging?

Hi Igor,

The bq24130 charger does not have termination, but will go into voltage regulation once the battery voltage reaches the regulation point. This is why you see very small current without termination. The charge profile is controlled by the MCU or system through CMOD and ISET1. CMOD controls fast charge or precharge, and ISET1 controls charging on and off.

If you want a similar device, I suggest the bq24133.
