TPS40425: DCR sensing change to Rds on sensing

Hello

TPS40425 default is DCR sensing. If would like to change to Rds on sensing, which register of TPS40425 we can modify to Rds on sensing?

Below is schematics, if would like to change Rds on sensing from DCR sensing, what modify we need to change on schematics? Thank you.

Hi Patrick,

I assume the Rds on sensing you are saying refers to the current sensing signal from power stage.

If that's the case, I suggest to use TPS40428 which is in smart-power mode (use current sense signal from power stage) in factory default.

TPS40428 is pin to pin compatible with TPS40425.

Thanks. IS TPS40428 BOM to BOM to TPS40425? If customer would like to TPS40425, how to modify for sensing signal from power stage? Thank you.

Hi Patrick,

To change from DCR mode to smart-power mode, the BOM needs to be modified.
Please refer to the reference design in TPS40425 and TPS40428 EVM user guide.

If cutomer want to use TPS40425 at smart-power mode, select EN_SPS bit in MFR_21 register, store to NVM, power cycle to make the change take effect.
