LMZ13608: Information needed regarding possible failure modes for failure mode analysis report

Part Number: LMZ13608

These parts are used by us on test equipment used to test deliverable hardware.  The customer for the deliverable hardware needs a definition of possible failure modes and mitigations to those failure modes which would cause or allow the input voltage on the LMZ13608 to pass through the device to its output, which could in turn cause damage to other parts of our test electronics and to the device under test.  We are working on a failure mode analysis for our test hardware which takes into account any failure modes that might exist in these regulators which could cause illegal voltages or currents to be applied to the DUT.  Also, what device features exist in the regulator which could mitigate such failures and act to protect the loads connected to the regulators in the instance of a failure of the regulators.

  • Hi,

The LMZ13608's protection features include output overvoltage, short circuit and output current limit protections. These features allow robustness for the module to safely shutdown voltage and current to the DUT in the case when a certain fail condition has been tripped. For more information on these conditions, Section 7.3 provides in-depth details on how each feature works.

    Regards.
