BQ76PL536: How fast can CBn switch

Part Number: BQ76PL536

Hi,

I'm working on battery management system for my 6 cells and i want to drive the mosfet in 100Khz frequency.

So can CBn output of the BQ76PL536 drive in this frequency, if not can i have an idea what is the maximum switching frequency ?

here i used external gate for each mosfet so that i can provide 10/12V for driving it properly.

  • Hi Karim,

For both the bq76PL455 and bq76PL536 the CBn pins are controlled by a register write from the host MCU. To switch at 100kHz this means that your MCU has to

    1) Send a switch on command

    2) Send a switch off command

all within 1us, and this is ignoring any time you have for logic/regulation loops if you have any. This means that you must send a command every 500ns. Neither the PL455 or 536 can support this communication baud rate.

If you are going to use a monitor, the choke point will likely be the bandwidth of your communication interface. I think you may need to either drop your switching frequency or utilize something like a DSP possibly
