I have a customer looking for an alternative to the AMS AS1112 (http://ams.com/eng/Products/Power-Management/LED-Drivers/AS1112, http://ams.com/eng/content/download/1207/6980/525 ) . 

They have shortlisted the following parts as possible TI alternatives:

TLC5940, TLC59401, TLC5941, TLC5945, TLC5946

Even though the selection tool shows that the parts above have LED Short to Ground Detection and LED Short to VLED Detection features, there is no mention of this in the datasheet.

Do these parts have these features? If yes, could you describe how they are implemented? If not, some suggestions for alternatives would be welcome.

    Hi, Mihir,

    Sorry for the trouble you're facing by using the selection tool. We're updating these information and it should be correct later.

    LED short to ground is detected by LOD(LED Open Detection), since this function detects the voltage of OUTn, and if OUTn is < LED open detection threshold, no matter it's caused by LED open or LED short to ground, the error can be detected.

    The devices you list have LOD function, but don't have LED short to Vled detection.

    If you're looking for LED short to Vled detection drivers(LSD), TLC5929 and TLC59291 are 16-ch ON/OFF type, while TLC5948A, TLC5949 are 16-ch PWM type driver, and TLC5951 is 24-ch PWM type driver.
