BQ34Z100-G1: CE pin

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQPRODUCTION,

Dear All:

do you  think    the CE pin  can be floating? why i measure the CE pin voltage is 0.8V at floating condition? Thanks~

  • Hi Bill,

From the looks of it this should be bias to REGIN. I am finding out more into why.

    Thanks

    Miguel
  • Dear  Miguel:

can you supply the  CE Pin internal circuit? I can't see the VIH   VIL   parameter from the datasheet,  at present i have 1/30  products that

    have the following problems:

As shown in the schematic diagram, the CE pin is floating, I measure the voltage is about 0.8V with multimeter,  normally the voltage should be 1.3V. when i burn the CE pin with a  electric soldering iron,  the wrong voltage is back to normal.  I  am sure that is not  cold solder.  can you explain this for me? thanks ~

In addition,  Can you  provide some tools for mass production ? can the Bqproduction help me?  Thanks~ Looking forward to your reply.

  • Hi Bill,

I don't follow in general the CE should not be left floating as it powers the part internally.

Also yes bqProduction should be used for mass production.

You can use this doc as a guideline: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua665

    Thanks

  • Dear Miguel:

thanks for your reply, but I want to know what cause the phenomenon that "when i burn the CE pin with a electric soldering iron, the wrong voltage is back to normal" can you help me? Thanks~!
  • Hi Bill,

touching the CE pin which is a high impedance pin seems to be causing either a change in leakage currents which are sensitive to temperature or the soldering iron would cause a change in voltage which would then cause the voltage to change at that pin.

In general we can't recommend that it is ok to leave this pin floating. It should be either attached to GND or to REGIN to either shut it down or power it up, respectively.

    Thanks

    Miguel
  • Dear Miguel:

thanks for your reply, i forgot tell you i burn the CE pin with a electric soldering iron without the BQ34Z100-G1 power on. and the CE pin voltage is measured after the power on.
  • Hi Bill,

OK so have i answered your question?

    Thanks
